U12 girls vs boys match report

A great match was played yesterday by both boys and girls from the U12 Winchester squads. Many of the players know each other from the U10s and so the rivalry was strong.

The game was very well fought despite the weather which seemed to pour down during much of the game.

The boys scored first only to be quickly followed by an equalising goal by the girls. The tension was mounting. Some great fast play by the boys kept the girls under pressure and whilst they remained very calm the score board went in the boy’s favour.

The girls had a goal stolen by a kick off the line and the resulting penalty flick was well saved by a busy boys keeper. The girls continued to put pressure on the boys in a game that really could have gone either way at many points. The final score of 4-1 to the boys was a poor reflection of what was a very even game (as said by the girls coaching team!).

The girls have already confirmed that they are up for a rematch later in the season.
