vs Chichester - 9-0
Scorers: Ollie, William H, William V, William D (2), Isaac (2), Shayan, William R
A very wet day saw Winchester U14 boys away to Chichester in the second round of the EH Cup. However, the driving rain didn't dampen the boys determination and from the push back Winchester took control of the game. Strong play in defence coupled with a mobile midfield resulted in multiple chances and the break didn't take long in coming. This opened the flood gates, resulting in 4-0 at half time.
The second half Chichester were stronger, however were chasing a game out of their reach and as a result Winchester capitalised scoring five more. There was pressure to soak up at the end of the second half with a number of opportunities thwarted and Bertie Carter having to work for the clean sheet. On now to the next round of the cup; opposition to be drawn shortly.

Blacks vs Alton A (8-0) and Trojans A (2-1)
At what is now known as Fortress Kings, Winchester Blacks pulled off two stunning wins to go top of the league. On a day when conditions were due to be poor, the rain stopped and the wind held back during a frantic 90-minute period on Sunday morning. The first game against Alton started with trepidation with both sides going close. Then Winchester really hit their stride and following some excellent midfield defensive work and darting wing play, converted a series of chances that put the game to bed by half time.
A short break, and some cracking examples of a packed lunch, then up came the old adversary. Trojans. Coached by ex-national league player Wayne Shepherd, it was a battle of skills and wills. Defensively we marked their two best players out of the game, rewarded by two stunning goals from Blacks’ forwards and some controlling play across all parts of the pitch. An excellent game well executed by the entire team and a 2-1 win to go joint top of the league. Great gamesmanship at the end, with much sharing of sweets by both sides.
Player of the match: Emily K and GK Eleanor
