Junior Club – new ideas and new roles – its time to get involved

Its time to get involved and continue to build on the success to date!

Winchester Junior section is currently setting up its new Committee and appointing Coaches for the new 20-21 season and would like more people to help and get involved.  None of these roles will take up too much time.  The benefit of more people contributing include a sharing of the workload, and a greater diversity of opinion in how best to develop the club.

Every Member is important to us – and every person who can help in some way or another helps us collectively achieve our objectives – a great fun, safe and enjoyable environment for our children to play and develop, and move on to playing at a senior level.

If you can help, would like to help, possibly unsure but want to know more, then please just call or email Tim Lander, Pete Jenkinson, Richard Macer or Andy Craig.

COACHING & TEAM MANAGEMENT:

As part of our drive to improve the quality of the coaching provision across the whole junior section, we are in the process of appointing a new junior Director of Coaching.  The primary role of this post will be to help develop coaches throughout the club.  We are also working hard to make sure every team has a Manager, Lead Coach and supporting Coaches.

If you would like to get involved in coaching a particular team, take a coaching course, help manage a team or learn to umpire, then please contact us.

SUNDAY FIXTURES SECRETARY:

A critical role we need assistance is for someone to pick up the Sunday Fixture Secretary role. Primarily it involves making sure our pitches are booked using a simple online process, and liaise with the Junior Team Managers to book further fixtures as Cup programmes progress. We have a good system in place, and support and training from our current club fixtures secretary.  It’s a great role, and doesn’t take much time if you’re organised.

JUNIOR COMMUNICATION & SPONSORSHIP:

We are planning a new programme of team and junior club news, reaching out to all players and their families, and are setting up a new team and coach sponsorship programme targeted specifically at the junior club. If you would like to get involved with this exciting initiative, and utilise your creative talents, we are looking for a Junior Club Sponsorship Manager, Publications Manager, and Social Media Manager to really lift and involve the whole junior club.

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY:

We are also investing in a new club membership database and app based communication and payment tool. If you would like to learn a new skill, and help us to implement this across the club, then please apply for the junior membership secretary role.
